Appendectomy — Emergency Appendicitis
Perforated appendix detached from the cecum
READ PROCEDURE DETAILS written by Dr. Khaled
One of the worst scenarios we can meet in acute appendicitis. The appendix had perforated, and its root at the colon was open and detached. This case required removing the adjoining pouch of the colon — the cecum (a cecectomy). The operation was completed successfully, without complications, entirely through minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery.
Cases like this are a warning about how much timely diagnosis and prompt surgical intervention matter: advanced appendicitis can quickly turn life-threatening when treatment is delayed.
